Enterprise Adviser Network
The Black Country Skills Factory continues to work with The Careers & Enterprise Company to roll out this national initiative - a network of Enterprise Advisers across the Black Country.
Enterprise Advisers are volunteers from the world of work and education who work directly with school and college leaders to bridge the gap between the worlds of work and employment.
Aims of Enterprise Adviser Network
The Enterprise Adviser network is the flagship initiative for the Careers & Enterprise Company which was set up to inspire and prepare young people for the fast-changing world of work. The Adviser network is based on research that shows that greater contact with employers among young people leads to better employment outcomes.
The Black Country Skills Factory aims to link all Black Country secondary schools with an Enterprise Adviser working in partnership with Wolverhampton LA and the Black Country Chamber of Commerce across the Black Country, and has 4 Coordinators to support the School and Enterprise Advisers
What are Enterprise Advisers and what do they do?
Enterprise Advisers are volunteers from the world of work (businesses and the public sector, organisations of all sizes including the self-employed). Working alongside the Coordinators and directly with school and college leaders, they are responsible for helping schools and colleges build careers and enterprise and employer engagement plans drawing on their own local business networks.
The Enterprise Advisers work alongside the Coordinators to support schools to identify and plan actions to ensure the schools are better able to meet the Gatsby benchmarks as identified in the National Careers Strategy released by government in December 2017.
