Opening Doors in the Black Country provides the opportunity for employers to give an insight to local schools in how their organisation works and the range of career opportunities there are available.  Opening Doors directly addresses points 5 & 6 of the Gatsby Report outlining benchmarks for schools.

First implemented in Wyre Forest, led by OGL computer and a consortium of schools (CONTINu) the initiative offered an additional approach to that provided by careers fairs, employer visits and talks. A pilot was then led by a joint partnership between RSA Academies and the NWEDR (North Worcestershire Economic Development and Regeneration Service) involving schools and employers in Redditch.  This led to the development of the online brochure in Redditch, opening the opportunity to more local schools and employers and leading to a regional award for most 'Innovative Partnership of the Year' from the Careers and Enterprise Company.  During the pilot a few companies kindly allowed RSA to video some of the sessions, these can be viewed in the brochure below.

The RSA Academy in Tipton has been working alongside the Black Country Skills Factory to bring Opening Doors in the Black Country to support the Career Hub Activities.
